The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam has purchased "The Man Is at Sea" by Virginie Demont-Breton, a master of French realism. It is only the third painting by a woman to enter the museum's collection. The work reportedly inspired Van Gogh himself to create a similar canvas.
