TL;DR

Reddit users have uncovered the three new T-Mobile plans — Experience Signature, Experience More, and Experience Beyond — that the carrier is force-migrating users on older, legacy plans to.

Migrated customers will keep their free lines, maintain their current tax structures (Tax Inclusive or Tax Exclusive), and receive perks like a five-year price guarantee and streaming bundles.

Customers cannot voluntarily choose their new plan or pricing sub-tiers, and changes will automatically appear on billing cycles starting mid-July.

T-Mobile kicked up a storm this week by killing a bunch of its old plans and forcing customers to migrate to newer plans . It even ended the KickBack program , adding to the bad news. While the company confirmed the forced migration and informed customers individually, the details of the new plans remain unclear, leaving many customers with questions and doubts. Thankfully, the community has pulled together to answer some of your questions better than T-Mobile has.

Len Lichtenfeld had a long-overdue apology to make. He was haunted in late 2024 by an exchange with a New York Times reporter almost a decade earlier, during which Lichtenfeld defended the American Cancer Society’s official stance that a drink or two a day was safe, even for cancer prevention.

There was mounting evidence to the contrary, which he knew from epidemiologists on staff, but didn’t mention. Lichtenfeld left something else out, too: Behind the scenes, the American Cancer Society was raking in millions of dollars from the alcohol industry through an annual New York City gala, the details of which are reported here for the first time.

Lichtenfeld, an oncologist who was then deputy chief medical officer at ACS, told STAT he felt indirect pressure to keep those donors happy. “It stayed with me, because I knew it was a conflicted situation,” he said.

In 2020, he was laid off from ACS as part of broader budget cuts, and the society separately changed its advice to say abstaining from alcohol is best for cancer prevention.

Executives told STAT the shift in messaging was the result of a regularly scheduled update of nutrition guidelines. But they acknowledged that staff epidemiologists had pushed for a stronger alcohol statement since the late 2010s.

“It was the right thing to do in 2020,” William Dahut, chief scientific officer at ACS, told STAT. “The whole committee endorsed strongly where we stand now.”

Despite the society’s eventual turnabout, Lichtenfeld’s interaction with the reporter “weighed heavily” on him, because it exemplified how special interests can trickle into public health messaging, he said. The United States’ attitude toward alcohol, its deadliest drug after tobacco, and the source of its most neglected addiction crisis, is a prime example.

STAT’s investigation finds the alcohol trade has been enormously successful at using allies and money to its benefit, smothering proposals that might cut into its profits. Leveraging tactics that evoke the tobacco industry’s playbook, the industry has inserted itself into health philanthropy, federal science, and all levels of politics and policymaking.

A Tony nominated writer for Outstanding Book of a Broadway musical, Anderson has received the Steinberg/ATCA New Play Award, the Horton Foote Prize, the United States Artists Fellowship, MacDowell Fellowship, Lily Awards Harper Lee Prize, Herb Alpert nomination, Barrymore Nomination for Outstanding New Play, and New Dramatist residency. She’s taught playwriting at Rutgers University, SUNY Purchase, Wesleyan University, Yale School of Drama, and served as the interim Head of Playwriting at Brown University. An avid photographer for nearly ten years, the Magnum award review described Christina’s work as “compelling” and “poignant.” Since 2019, she has produced hip hop instrumentals under the moniker Purely Magenta.

Restaurant kiosks are hazardous places, and not only on the side of the screen where patrons jab greasy fingers. On the other side of the glass, things can also go wrong when Windows starts working against the kiosk software. Spotted in a Portuguese restaurant chain by eagle-eyed Register reader Mário, the screen shows Windows 10 - though it could possibly be Windows 8.x - turning its nose up at a kiosk application. Either way, the sight of it would be enough to put even the most cast-iron sysadmin off their lunch.. In this instance, the WinRestKioskWPF.exe file is apparently lacking a digital signature to verify its publisher. It has therefore failed the Windows 10 sniff test, and a warning is on display. The problem is that this is a kiosk, so rather than being able to select and enjoy a Portuguese specialty (most likely something with a fried egg on it – if you know, you know), the hungry customer is presented with a baffling dialog. They could press Run (assuming the touchscreen passes input through to the desktop), or they could do the sideways shuffle of shame to a working kiosk. The software appears to be part of the WinRest suite of Point of Sale software. According [warning: this is an HTTP URL] to the company's website, its tools are "ultra-secure and affordable." The suffix, WPF, indicates it is a version written with the Windows Form replacement, the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF). WPF is an interesting choice for a modern application. It is, after all, very much Windows-only (yes, it was one of the inspirations for Avalonia), but since this kiosk is running Windows, it's not a terrible choice. Unless, of course, WPF means something different in this instance. We Prefer Frying? It's a possibility. And perhaps also why a clean-living installation of Windows 10 has rejected the application. ®

PARIS — French voters will go to the polls to elect a new president on April 18 and on May 2 next year, according to two government officials who were granted anonymity to speak about a decision that has not yet been made public.

The election details, first reported by local newspaper Ouest France, are expected to be publicly announced after a cabinet meeting Wednesday morning.

Given the legal and constitutional constraints regarding the dates of French presidential elections, the only other dates that would have worked were April 11 and April 25. However, the dates chosen will see the election take place closer to May 13, when President Emmanuel Macron’s second term concludes.

With Macron constitutionally barred from seeking a third consecutive term, a massive number of candidates are lining up to replace him. Among them are two of his former prime ministers, Edouard Philippe and Gabriel Attal , and radical left leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon .

The front-runner will be whoever runs from the National Rally. But the far-right party cannot decide if longtime leader Marine Le Pen or rising star Jordan Bardella will run until a court rules on Le Pen’s appeal of her conviction of embezzling EU funds and her five-year ban on running for public office.
