Perplexity co-founder: AI safety is a pretext to monopolise frontier research
Andy Konwinski, co-founder of Perplexity, accused major private AI labs of using safety arguments as a pretext to lock down frontier research and control who gets to do AI work. He cited Anthropic's Fable 5 controversy as a key example. Konwinski argues that a handful of private companies should not govern access to advanced AI research.
