Not long after MG unveiled its new electric sedan, conceived as a rival to the Xiaomi SU7, China’s best-selling electric sedan above 200,000 yuan (about $29,000), and a cut-price alternative to the Porsche Taycan, Geely has fired back with its own low-slung, sleek electric sports saloon. Called the Galaxy TT, it goes on sale next month, though prices have yet to be announced.

Like so many other new electric sedans emerging from China , the Galaxy TT adopts an aerodynamic shape to minimize drag and increase the driving range. It has all the traits of its competition, including a smooth front fascia with LED headlights, blacked-out air vents, and a LiDAR unit mounted above the windshield.

The sides are similarly smooth with flush door handles, compact wing mirrors, and curvaceous rear quarter panels. Found at the rear are LED taillights, a light bar, and little else of note, to be frank. The Galaxy TT measures 196.8 inches (4,999 mm) long, 75.5 inches (1,919 mm) wide, and stands 58.2 inches (1,479 mm) tall with a 114.9-inch (2,920 mm) wheelbase.

Three Batteries, Two Motors

Underpinning the car is an 800-volt electrical architecture and three available battery packs. The base option has a 52.4 kWh pack, while the mid-tier model uses a 63.8 kWh battery and the flagship version rocks a 75.2 kWh battery. The driving range will vary significantly depending on the battery, ranging from 335 miles (540 km) to 450 miles (725 km) under the notoriously generous CLTC testing cycle.

Two motor options will be available. Base models will feature a rear-mounted electric motor producing 329 hp, while dual-motor, all-wheel-drive models will produce a combined 570 hp. While that’s not enough to rival something like the SU7 Ultra, those figures are sufficient to compete with mid-tier Xiaomi models.
Early images released of the Galaxy TT’s interior show that, like the exterior, it is fairly typical of a Chinese EV. For example, there’s a large central infotainment screen, a digital instrument cluster, and a sporty three-spoke steering wheel. It also includes dual wireless smartphone chargers, circular air vents, and a small analog clock for a somewhat retro vibe.
