Astronomers find first strong evidence of atmosphere on rocky exoplanet LHS 1440 b in habitable zone

An international team of astronomers has presented the first strong evidence that the rocky exoplanet LHS 1440 b, located 49 light-years from Earth in its star's habitable zone, has an atmosphere. This is the first such finding for a rocky planet in the habitable zone and marks a significant step in the search for potentially life-supporting worlds beyond the Solar System. The discovery expands the list of objects deserving further astrobiological study.
