New data reveals that most workers fear AI’s potential impact on their jobs

Employees who feel secure in their roles are more productive and engaged

Employers must prioritize communication and invest in training and upskilling

New data from ADP’s People at Work 2026 report, which covers more than 39,000 working adults from 36 markets, confirms that most workers are still highly concerned about AI’s impact on their jobs, even though today’s tangible impacts are relatively minimal.

Only one in four UK workers strongly agree their job is safe from being replaced, and this drops to around one in five (21%) in Europe as a whole and 22% globally.

ADP’s report highlights a major disconnect between employment figures, which are generally pretty strong, and employees’ personal expectations about their roles’ futures.

Poor AI communication is creating a confidence gap

“The world of work is changing fast, and our findings reveal a gap between what the labour market is telling us and what employees are feeling,” ADP UK&NI SVP and GM Jeff Phipps said, noting that “employment is strong.”

The report, one of the most extensive of its kind, shows that confidence actually varies widely according to the nature of an employee’s role, with knowledge workers feeling more confident. Around one in three (34%) UK knowledge workers agree their jobs are safe, but only 19% of UK workers in repetitive roles feel secure.

But a sense of job security doesn’t just play into a worker’s satisfaction – it could also be impacting how they work, and the productivity that an employer sees. Workers who feel their jobs are secure are 6x more likely to be fully engaged at work and around 3x more likely to report high productivity.

Workers who feel secure are also around 2x as likely to say they have no intention of leaving their employer.

More job security creates higher-performing workers

It seems that greater confidence about the future may enable employees to concentrate more on their work and raise their contributions, indicating a clear need for positive communication from management.

ADP advises employers to be transparent about any organizational and technological changes, and to explain how employees’ roles could be affected so that they don’t instantly assume their jobs could be at risk. The report also puts the responsibility of training and upskilling on employers.

“People want to know there's a place for them as their organisation evolves, and that they'll be supported to get there,” Phipps added.

The report also reveals that the bigger the company, the less confident a worker is likely to feel. Large corporations see a 22% confidence level, compared with 36% for mid-sized companies. In Europe, the inverse is true, proving that the world is still struggling to get to grips with AI communication and training regardless of geography or company size.

“The businesses that treat this seriously - investing in skills and being honest about change - are the ones seeing the payoff in how people perform and whether they stay,” Phipps said, urging companies to factor much more than mere tech implementation into their AI strategies as they risk losing workers.

Police arrested a 23-year-old after stop sticks halted a Lamborghini Urus.

Authorities say he fled officers across multiple jurisdictions before latest encounter.

He now faces felony charges after allegedly driving toward responding officers.

A Lamborghini Urus can sprint from 0-60 mph in around 3.5 seconds, but all the horsepower in the world doesn’t help much when your tires are flat before you even leave the parking lot. That’s exactly what Yonkers Police say a Bronx man learned. His arrest came after an alleged history of fleeing officers. He evidently thought he had one more escape left in him. He was wrong.

That young man is a 23-year-old Lamborghini driver, who allegedly had a suspended registration and had previously fled from law enforcement in multiple jurisdictions. According to the Yonkers Police Department, officers received an automated license plate reader alert on July 13 that identified a Lamborghini Urus parked at 132 Bronx River Road. Police say they recognized both the SUV and its driver.

Setting The Trap

If there was ever a case for automated license plate readers, this is probably it. Even so, the technology remains controversial because the same tools that can quickly locate wanted suspects can also be used to monitor the movements of ordinary drivers, a concern that has surfaced in multiple investigations involving law enforcement agencies across the U.S.

Rather than waiting for another pursuit to unfold, officers decided to ensure there wouldn’t be one. Anticipating another attempted escape, police quietly positioned a Stop Stick tire deflation device beneath the Urus before he returned to the vehicle. Patrol units then boxed the SUV in, leaving little room to maneuver.

Police say the man refused repeated commands to exit the Lamborghini and instead attempted to drive toward officers and patrol vehicles while searching for a way out. With the Urus immobilized by its flattened tires, officers ultimately took him into custody.

The man has now been charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree assault. Yonkers Police say additional charges could follow as the investigation continues.

In an email to Carscoops, Yonkers Police confirmed the Lamborghini Urus had previously fled both the Yonkers and Mount Vernon police departments. The agency also said the SUV was impounded after the arrest and that one officer suffered minor injuries.

Indian space officials celebrated the debut flight of Skyroot Aerospace's Vikram-1 rocket, India's first fully commercial satellite launcher, as a "grand success" Saturday after an on-target climb into a 280-mile-high orbit following liftoff from an island spaceport in the Bay of Bengal.

The Vikram-1 lifted off from India's primary spaceport on Sriharikota Island at 1:35 am EDT (06:35 UTC) Saturday, around midday at the launch base along India's southeast coast. The launch was delayed more than a half-hour to resolve a last-minute technical problem. The countdown resumed, culminating in the command to ignite Vikram-1's solid-fueled first stage booster to propel the rocket off the launch pad.

Vikram-1 is modest in size compared to India's larger workhorse rockets. Skyroot's rocket stands about 72 feet (22 meters) tall, with the capability to place payloads of up to 770 pounds (350 kilograms) into low-Earth orbit. This makes Vikram-1 somewhat larger than the Electron launch vehicle developed by Rocket Lab, the world's most successful dedicated small satellite launcher.
