Arctic Ice Melt Slowdown Is Over — Record Winter Decline Recorded
A new study has found that the previously observed slowdown in Arctic sea ice decline over the past 20 years was temporary rather than sustained. Scientists have now recorded the largest ever year-to-year wintertime reduction in Arctic sea ice. Earlier research published last summer had found no statistically significant decline in ice extent between 2005 and 2024.
