Boniek: "We went mad" — Poles obsessively tracked Marciniak's World Cup assignments
Former Polish football federation president Zbigniew Boniek criticised Polish fans and media for their obsessive focus on referee Szymon Marciniak's assignments during the World Cup. Speaking on the Prawda Futbolu programme, Boniek said "we went mad," noting that people woke up each morning solely to check whether Marciniak had been given a key match. He argued the tournament should not have been reduced to following one Polish official.
