Close to 20 years since the hit comedy The Big Bang Theory premiered, the series kickstarted one of the longest-running television franchises. The mothership series concluded in 2019, but fans had already been introduced to the next chapter in the form of a prequel series: Young Sheldon . As the title suggests, the show followed Sheldon Cooper ( Iain Armitage ) in his younger years growing up in Texas. This prequel was a success , and it led to yet another spin-off in 2024. The second series is a sequel to Young Sheldon , but it doesn't follow Sheldon; it follows his older brother, Georgie ( Montana Jordan ). Titled Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage , it chronicles Georgie's rise from a struggling teenage husband to a successful businessman.

When it comes to television shows, one of the most expounded upon niches is that of first responders, with a ton of shows emerging over the years. While some have failed over the years, others have made a significant impact, with the most prominent names being the One Chicago universe , created by Dick Wolf and Derek Haas , airing on NBC and streaming on Peacock, and the 9-1-1 franchise built by Ryan Murphy , Brad Falchuk , and Tim Minear , with its home on ABC while streaming on Hulu. Other first responder franchises and shows exist, and ABC has one of the most beloved titles.

A report claims Cadillac is planning a successor to the CT5-V Blackwing.

The future of its V8 and manual transmission remains unclear.

GM may have another opportunity for the outgoing CT5 platform.

For months, it looked like the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing might be headed for extinction. GM has already confirmed the current CT5 will be replaced after the 2026 model year, but it never said whether its fire-breathing performance flagship would make the jump to the next generation. Now, a new report suggests enthusiasts may not have to say goodbye after all.

According to a report from GM Authority , citing sources familiar with the matter, Cadillac is planning a successor to the CT5-V Blackwing as part of the next-generation CT5 lineup. The brand has already confirmed a new internal-combustion CT5 is in development, though it has yet to publicly say whether V-Series or Blackwing models will return, which is where the new rumor fills in the gap.

If true, the move could preserve one of the automotive world’s increasingly rare combinations. Today’s CT5-V Blackwing packs a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 producing 668 hp (498 kW) and 659 lb-ft (893 Nm) of torque, sending power to the rear wheels through either a 10-speed automatic or an available six-speed manual transmission. With European rivals steadily abandoning V8s, manuals, or both, the Blackwing has carved out a niche few competitors can match.

Unfortunately, the report answers only one question while raising several others. There’s no indication what engine might power the next-generation car, whether the manual transmission will survive, or when buyers could expect to see it. The new CT5 will ride on the updated Alpha 2 platform, and a future Chevrolet Camaro sedan is very likely to share the same rear-wheel drive underpinnings.

There’s also an intriguing opportunity hiding beneath the headlines. Word earlier this year had GM evaluating a new Buick sedan for North America, and if that project moves forward, the outgoing CT5 architecture could hand it a ready-made foundation instead of forcing a clean-sheet start.

And while nothing similar has surfaced regarding Chevrolet , it’s hard not to wonder whether the same Blackwing setup could also underpin a modern successor to the long-departed SS, giving enthusiasts another rear-wheel drive performance sedan without requiring an all-new investment. Cadillac has not confirmed the report, so for now it remains firmly in rumor territory.

Data from the Earth-orbiting U.S.-India NISAR (NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellite’s L-band radar was used to produce an image of Nunatak Zaterjavshijsja — a mountaintop in East Antarctica — poking out amid a stream of ice flowing northeast to the ocean. The obstruction causes stresses in the ice, heavily fracturing the surrounding surfaces with deep cracks, called crevasses, which show as sharp green lines in the image. Produced in August 2025, the image has been nicknamed “the hummingbird” by NISAR scientists.

The colors show differences in the way polarized microwave signals, which vibrate in different directions, interact with and reflect from the ice. Over Antarctica, NISAR transmits radar waves toward Earth with a horizontal polarization. The orientation of the signals that return, either horizontal, vertical, or both, provide clues about the object or surface that reflected them.

Signals that come back with a horizontal polarization likely bounced off a more regular surface, such as smooth ice. Those signals appear magenta in the image. Signals that return with vertical polarization may have refracted as they partially penetrated the ice or scattered at different angles as they reflected off irregular surfaces, like the faces of crevasses. Called volume scattering, these observations are displayed in green.

The white represents areas in which both magenta and green signals scatter back strongly, a possible indication that there is an equal blend of surface and volume scattering.

Managed by Caltech, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory leads the United States component of the project and provided the satellite’s L-band SAR and antenna reflector. The spacecraft bus and its S-band SAR were provided by the Indian Space Research Organisation. The NISAR satellite is the first to carry two SAR instruments at different wavelengths, collecting data using the spacecraft’s giant drum-shaped reflector , which measures 39 feet (12 meters) wide — the largest radar antenna reflector NASA has ever sent into space.
