Belugas rescued from closed Canadian Marineland zoo moved to US facilities

Beluga whales from Marineland, a Canadian wildlife park that operated from the early 1960s until its closure in 2024, have been transferred to facilities in the United States. The park had a long-standing poor reputation for animal welfare. Former whale trainer Phil Demers said he feels relief but struggles to endorse any of the institutions the animals were sent to.
