Allotment gardens cool cities by several degrees, satellite study finds

Scientists analysed satellite data and found that allotment gardens can lower air temperatures in European cities by several degrees during heatwaves. They act as natural air conditioning and also retain water. The findings strengthen the case for protecting green spaces in urban areas.
