Meta faces $1.4 trillion lawsuit over children's social media addiction

Jury selection began Wednesday in a landmark lawsuit brought by California, Colorado, Kentucky and New Jersey against Meta. The states allege the company deliberately engineered Facebook and Instagram to be addictive for children. They are seeking app-design changes and financial penalties of up to $1.4 trillion in what has been called social media's "big tobacco moment." Meta denies all allegations.
