High blood pressure, diabetes and smoking cut dementia-free life by nearly 13 years

A new US study found that people who had none of the three risk factors — high blood pressure, diabetes and smoking — in middle age lived nearly 13 years longer without dementia than those with all three. The findings stress that cardiovascular health in midlife is critical for long-term brain protection. The results are especially relevant in Poland, where diabetes and hypertension affect millions of people.
