Trump administration props up the yen to keep cheap money flowing to US tech
Japan's yen has again slid towards 160 to the dollar despite a recent US-Japanese intervention. Banks borrow yen, convert them to dollars and buy higher-returning US assets — making Japan's ultra-cheap money a global financial utility that Washington wants to keep running.
