eROSITA telescope maps nearly 2 million X-ray sources in second sky survey
The eROSITA space telescope has released its second major X-ray sky catalogue, covering nearly two million sources across half the sky — roughly double its previous publication. A team from Bonn used the data to study the outermost regions of a massive galaxy cluster, where fresh gas is still arriving along filaments connecting clusters. The gas proved hotter, denser and poorer in heavy elements than theoretical models predicted.
