Polish coal mining lost 11.6 bn złoty yet wages rose at PGG and PKW
Four state-controlled Polish coal mining groups posted a combined consolidated net loss of 11.6 billion złoty in 2025. Despite the dire financial results, not all companies cut labour costs — average wages at PGG and PKW actually rose, even as overall employment fell. The sector has struggled with profitability for years and shows no signs of improvement.
