Bitcoin firms ask AI labs for same hacking tools attackers already use
Coinbase, Block, BitGo and dozens of other cryptocurrency companies have signed an open letter to AI labs arguing that safety guardrails on frontier AI models are blocking legitimate cybersecurity research. The firms say that attackers face no such restrictions, putting lawful security researchers at a disadvantage. The letter calls on AI labs to grant the crypto sector access to the same tools that malicious actors already have.
