Live facial recognition cameras coming to London's Oxford Street
London's Metropolitan Police is planning to deploy live facial recognition (LFR) cameras on Oxford Street, Britain's busiest shopping street. Mayor Sadiq Khan has indicated the newly pedestrianised street will be included in the rollout. The Met announced in June it would introduce the technology in the West End by Christmas, with six more areas to follow next year. Human rights groups have raised concerns about the deployment.
