Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia form alliance with NATO Article 5-style clause

Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have signed an agreement in Mecca covering joint weapons development, military exercises and political consultations. The pact includes a mutual-defence clause closely resembling NATO's Article 5. According to Le Monde, the alliance weakens the influence of the US, Israel and Iran in the Persian Gulf region.
