Drug blocks lifelong social damage from childhood trauma — but only if given during it

Researchers in Munich and Stockholm found that a single compound can block the lifelong social consequences of early adversity in mice. The critical caveat is that the drug only works when administered during the trauma itself — not after the fact. The finding opens new avenues for research into preventing the effects of early childhood stress.
