Invasive snake species overruns Ibiza, threatening native wildlife
The invasive snake Hemorrhois hippocrepis is rapidly spreading across Ibiza, posing a threat to native species including the Pitiusan wall lizard. According to the journal "Proceedings of the Royal Society B", the snakes likely arrived on the island via olive shipments. The species has already been spotted in the sea around the island.
