UK scientists plan moon-orbiting satellite to probe the early universe

A UK research team plans to put a suitcase-sized satellite into lunar orbit to search for a 21cm radio frequency signal emitted by neutral hydrogen atoms in the early universe. The far side of the moon shields the instrument from Earth's radio interference, making it an ideal vantage point. The data could shed new light on conditions shortly after the Big Bang.
