Critical macOS flaw under active attack — hackers installing Monero miner via screen sharing bug
The Dutch National Cyber Security Centrum (NCSC) has warned that the macOS vulnerability CVE-2026-65400 is under active exploitation. The flaw is in the macOS screen sharing feature and allows remote attackers to gain root access and install a Monero cryptocurrency miner on systems with port 5900 exposed to the internet. Apple released a patch last week for macOS Tahoe, Sequoia and Sonoma; users should update immediately.
