US Army picks Robinson R66 as primary trainer for new Flight School Next program

The U.S. Army has selected the Robinson R66 Turbine helicopter as the primary trainer for its new Flight School Next program, overhauling how the service trains entry-level rotary-wing pilots. A contract worth up to $10 billion was awarded on August 13 to M1 Support Services to run the training enterprise at Fort Rucker, Alabama. The program aims to train between 800 and 1,500 Army helicopter pilots per year over a potential 26-year contract period.
