Menopausal hormone therapy may lower Alzheimer's risk: new research

Two independent studies published in 2026 suggest that certain groups of women using menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) face a lower risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. Researchers at Stanford Medicine found that estrogen-only therapy was associated with less severe Alzheimer's-related brain changes in an analysis of 258 brains. Scientists stress that the findings are observational and do not establish a causal relationship.
