Pastizzi: Maltese street breakfast, once workers' food

Pastizzi are iconic Maltese pastries made from filo dough, filled with ricotta or peas, sold in cafés called pasticcerie. Once cheap workers' food, they are now considered a must on any culinary visit to Malta. Locals have eaten them since morning, and a single pastizzi costs no more than a few dozen cents.
