What a Car's Drag Coefficient Actually Means
A car's drag coefficient (Cd) measures how much aerodynamic resistance the vehicle experiences and directly affects fuel consumption and top speed. The lower the Cd, the less power the engine needs to maintain a given speed. However, the relationship between body shape, speed and real-world drag is more complex than the single number implies.
