Macron unveils Dreyfus statue and warns of antisemitism's return
French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday inaugurated a statue honouring Captain Alfred Dreyfus, the Jewish officer wrongfully convicted of treason in the 19th century in a case rooted in antisemitism. Macron used the ceremony to condemn a resurgence of what he called "the demons of antisemitism" darkening France's past and present. The Dreyfus Affair remains a landmark event in the history of French justice and civil rights.
