Matcha's global boom risks shortages as production can't keep up

Japan, the world's leading producer, is recording record exports of powdered green tea, but production cannot be scaled up quickly due to the need for specialised plantations and specific growing conditions. Increasingly frequent heatwaves pose an additional threat to harvests.
