Children injured in e-scooter crashes in England surge, research finds
A review of injuries at three UK paediatric trauma centres — Alder Hey in Liverpool, Sheffield and Royal Manchester Children's Hospitals — found a sharp rise in e-scooter crashes among under-16s between January 2019 and December 2024, with some victims as young as nine. Researchers are calling for mandatory speed limiters or helmet requirements to curb the trend.
