Europe gripped by fifth heatwave of the summer with 40°C in France and record ocean temperatures
Europe is experiencing its fifth heatwave of the summer, with temperatures in parts of France reaching 40 degrees Celsius. Last month, average global sea surface temperatures hit a record high of 21°C. Emma Howard Boyd, Chair of the National Heat Risk Commission at the Grantham Research Institute (LSE), provided further analysis on the consequences for the world's oceans.
