Putin visits Etorofu island, Japan calls it unacceptable

Vladimir Putin made his first-ever visit to Etorofu island, part of the disputed Kuril Islands archipelago. Japan's Foreign Ministry filed a formal protest, stating that the island belongs to Japan both historically and under international law. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi called the visit unacceptable.
